How do people make money from their websites?
I was wondering how that is if you dont have a business to promote. For example if I had a site where people can go to vent and gossip how would I make money. I have heard of such sites, no one I know personally nor do I know if they get paid to do it, but its just like a My Space or Yahoo, they are free to use and join so how do they make their money?

Easy, corporate sponsorship, ads, and stock. The corporate sponsorship is good because that company will pay money for you to keep that website up, but the company may want to be the only sponsor. This is where ads come in. Websites have reliable sources (sometimes) to have ad space on the website, and every time someone clicks on an ad, the website will get some money. And if someone buys something through that link the company posting the ad will pay even more. Lastly stock, a website that is at stock selling level they will sell shares to people. That is how people through the web business get rich. I hope this works.
